Picture Perfect (2024)

The room is clean,

The table is set.

Dinner is made,

And everything is perfect.

Or at least,

Almost perfect.

I scurry around and move the napkins,

Just a quarter inch to the left.

I shuffle the silverware,

And rearrange the glassware into an English style layout.

That's what it needs to be perfect right?

Right?

I check the turkey that is on the oven.

I taste just a little piece, 

Just to make sure it is right.

However it was off.

Off by one grain of salt,

The same for the mashed potatoes too.

Everything is off!

Every little thing!

I run around frantic.

My hair sticking out of my disheveled ponytail.

I look...

Unperfect.

But everything had to be perfect,

I say to my self.

Every little thing.

Even me.

But I'm not.

And I never will be.
