Who sits on the porch,
Lounged about in his slumber?
Why a yellow dog of course!
Who else could it be?
He surveys the area around him,
With sleepy and bored eyes.
Nothing catches his attention,
So he goes back to his dozing.
Off in the distance,
He hears the familiar rumble of tires.
His owner is coming home,
So they too can retire.
The yellow dog gives a half hearted bark,
But not to loud as that would be quite strenuous.
And waits with his head on his paw,
For his owner to come home.
When his owner parks their truck,
His tail goes "thrump".
He does not lift his sagging head,
Until his owner's hand is near to scratch behind his ear.
"You're a good boy" says the owner,
And soon the sound of a door is heard.
And the yellow dog once again,
Goes back to sleep so he too won't be disturbed.
