How To Become a God! (2/21/25)

 ~Prompt: God Or Good Fortune

They say when one follows a God, good fortune will follow the believer if they are faithful enough. For those who do not believe in a deity, they can work hard for a fortune or be lucky enough from the stars above to grant pity on them. Regardless, why would one want to be just a follower or work hard to maybe get lucky? I beckon thee forth! I will guide you through to become not only a fortunate person, but also a God!

First one must disregard their humaness. Gods are not humans and of course humans are not Gods. Sure there are some Gods who had human upbringings, but we really don’t count those. They’re neither Demi here or Demi there in regards to the real thing. Now back to business, this ”human mortal” thing, get rid of it. Gods are immortal and their existence goes beyond time or space. So simply become immortal!

Second, you need to become cute and fluffy. All people know that to have a following of believers, you will need to be cute and cuddly to attract them to you. For simple human mortals can not resist cute things! You will need pointy triangle ears, long whiskers, and an adorable fluffy tail. And most importantly, you will need large sparkly eyes that will make people go “AWWW!”. Trust me, that last one is very important, they fall for it every time. It will make people drop everything and let you do whatever you want to them. With this fresh new look, in no time flat you’ll start to feel like a God.

Thirdly, we will need to increase your luck. Now we’re not going to get a rabbit's foot or anything. They’re more tasty than lucky from my personal experience. Speaking of feet, you’re going to want to start landing on them all the time. Trust me, it's better to land on your feet than your neck! The amount of times I’ve saved myself by landing on my feet would probably be equal to the amount of nine lives. I mean not that landing on things that aren’t my feet would matter. I’m immortal after all. Anyways. Luck. Get more of it, okay bucko?

Alright the final thing you will need to become a God is quite simple really. It’s honestly the most easiest thing to do ever. Honestly I’m surprised most humans haven’t tried doing it. Because in all honesty it was very easy for me to do. So if it’s easy for me, then it’s definitely easy for everyone else! I mean it has to be, becoming a God is the easiest thing ever! You just have to...yuh know...

You have to become a cat!

Madness Comes For Us All (2/21/25)

 Prompt: Plague

”Stuff your masks full!”, shouted a man dressed in grim black clothing in the early morn of the day, “ And bring the torches! We need to burn this village to the ground!”

Another day, another burning, I thought to myself, No matter how many bodies we burn, no matter how many villages we destroy, it’s never enough. These people can’t help themselves and are now paying the price for it. Poor souls, may they find peace in the Heavens above! I stuffed the beak of my mask full of herds. They don’t smell great, but it’s the price to pay to stay alive during these times.

We descended into the village like the plague itself. Dragging the dead out of homes and into a cart to be hauled away to a burning pile. The first spark of the cleansing fire erupted on a nearby shack made of wood. Screams filled the air as more and more buildings went up in flames. What soon followed was the stench of burning flesh and decay.

Such a putrid smell, if only the Heavens above showed them the way before all of this. This all could have been prevented if people had listened. Alas, freedom of choice is what we are grated, but freedom of consequence is a privilege we will never have. Rest it be poor soul, rest it be.

While I was moving a deceased body, the owner of said body grabbed my arm roughly. I tried to shake them away, but they clung on as if their life depended on it.

”Unhand me plagued one!” I bellowed toward them.

In a sudden burst of energy, almost as if they were possessed by a demon, the face of the person I was holding was in front of me. Their face was crazed and eyes bloodshot red. Their fingernails dug into my leather gloves. Large boils covered their face, red and blistered. It was a painful sight to behold. I couldn’t imagine the pain they must be feeling.

”I am not the plagued one, oh Bringer of Heresy. You and the rest of your unholy flock will follow soon”, after that haunting claim the body went limp once again.

Madness must be a part of this disease. I must cleanse them quickly so they may be embraced by the Heavens above! I thought as I dashed towards the closet tower of flames.

We finished quickly with this town and made camp several miles away from the smoldering village. I began to remove my clothing so they could be cleaned. As I removed the glove that the madden person had grabbed, I noticed small blisters.

Maybe madness doesn’t run in this disease after all…

The Cavern of Screams (2/25/25)

 ~Prompt: Escape

“No! No! Please go away! Leave me alone!” a man screamed off in the distance.

“No please! I have a family and kids to go home to and take care of!”, pleaded a sobbing woman.

“They really weren’t kidding about it being called the Cave of Screams”, said an elvish sorceress with long blonde hair, pointy eleven ears, and wore a deep forest green robe.

“I don’t know what’s worse. Knowing these were their last words before their demise or not knowing what it is that made them scream that way”, replied a tabaxi knight dressed in full plate armor and wearing the symbol of the God of Mercy, Suranto, a six pointed star set as the iris on an eye.

“Don’t say that you oversized tin can! You'll just jinx us all and we’ll end up just like them!” whispered an aggressive gnome covered in black clothing and walked around with a staff that had a large green orb on the top that glowed ominously.

“The little one is right, don’t doom us all with your scared thoughts. Keep them to yourself and keep moving forward. We don’t have time to waste here,” barked an orc dressed in thick leather armor and held a large battle hammer in his hands. He was also covered in scars from head to toe. This wasn’t his first rodeo in a dangerous place.

“I told you my name is not “Little One”, it’s-!” The gnome was cut short by the sound of a little girl's blood curdling scream. However this one sounded much different, it sounded more real and not disembodied like the other ones they’ve been hearing.

“That must be who we were sent here for. Stay close to everyone and keep an eye out. It could be a trap. Let’s try to get in and out of here”, ordered the tabaxi knight while pulling out his shield and sword.

“Oh please, like a little girl's scream could do anything to me”, retorted the orc while lightly tossing his hammer up and down.

The adventuring party stuck close to each other in the cave. The light that emitted from the gnome’s staff illuminated the cavern enough for them to move forward slowly and cautiously. When they rounded the corner, they saw the source of the owner of the scream. A little human girl with damp and rattly blonde hair and wore a tattered and dirty baby blue dress. She also wore no shoes and her feet were blistered and red.

As the orc was about to shout at the girl, a large purple tentacle dragged the little girl by the leg into the darkness. Her screams were muffled by another violet tentacle. Before the party hovered a single gargantuan eye that was surrounded by more tentacles.

“A Beholder”, whispered the terrified elven sorceress.

“Role for initiative”, said the Dungeon Master while smirking.

The Gingerbread Man (2/25/25)

 ~Prompt: Truth

“It wasn’t me!”, screamed the Gingerbread Man, “ I would never do such a thing!”

“A likely story, little man!”, argued a male villager, “Just like you’re the fastest gingerbread there is!”

“I’m telling you the truth! I would never ever do such a thing! I would never think or dream of doing that!,” exclaimed the Gingerbread Man.

“Right, like you didn't dress up like a wolf to scare the boy protecting the sheep! You terrorized him for weeks! And when there was a real wolf around the flock no one did anything, because everyone thought he was lying again!”

“That was only one time! I never did that again! But you have to admit it was a little funny seeing the little twerp run around like a headless chicken every time he saw me”, snickered the Gingerbread Man.

“Then what about the time you dressed up as a little girl and broke into the Bear’s house! They stopped serving porridge to people from their little shop!”

“Well to be fair the door was unlocked…”

“And what about the time you dressed up as a wolf again, what is your obsession with dressing up as a wolf by the way, and scare a child and her grandma!”

“Okay, to be fair, that little girl had it coming! She ate my cousin Phil! I mean Phil wasn’t the greatest guy and I didn’t know him very well, but still! Family loyalty and all that stuff, ya’ know?”

“Alright, fine. I can agree that the little girl and her grandma are a pain, but still! A wrong answered by a wrong doesn’t make it right! You’ve got to be better than them. Either learn to co-exist or move on! No need to harm others!”

“Okay, fine, whatever! I get your point, I’ll do better. However I would never do what you’re accusing me of doing! Like you have to be crazy! Why would I ever impersonate a dragon! That’s insane!”

“I don’t know! Maybe, because you’re insane since you love to scare and terrorize people!”

“That may be so! But I would never eve-”

The Gingerbread Man was cut off short by the sound of loud thumping wings. Fear and dread filled the air between the two bickering parties. So thick that it could be cut with a dull butter knife.

“You know lowly mortals, I could hear your pathetic squabbling from over a mile away”, the large red dragon boomed at them. They turned to look at the villager and said,” You know mortal, even liars can tell the truth sometimes.”

“Oh gumdrops-”, the Gingerbread squeaked out before the dragon burned them all to a crisp.

The Man in Red and Blue Star (2/24/25)

 ~Prompt: Power

“Do you see how futile it is! You’ll never amount to anything! You’ll never save these people! These people are nothing, but sheep! Livestock to steal and take money from! You are nothing against me and all of these sheep’s money!”, screamed The Man in Red.

“You’re right about one thing, all you do is steal from these people and treat them like common livestock. Instead of seeing your fellow man as human, people just like you and me, you see nothing, but pawns for your empire and take everything away from them. When in reality you are an over gluttonous and greedy demon. A robber baron. A vile and evil villain who enjoys the suffering of the people and claim their glory and achievements as your own!”, retorted Blue Star.

The Man in Red laughed at these statements as he walked around the edge of the balcony he was on. The wind picked up in speed while both of them looked down at one another with loathsome glares. The air chilled and the tension thickened. They both knew that this would be their final fight, for one of them will not be able to come out of this alive. The outcome would determine the fate of the world around them.

“You know Blue Star, you are more evil and cruel than I am. Letting these sheep, or people as you like to call them, have hope and then ultimately crushing it due to your failure. Making them realize no one can help them. Not even a so-called “Hero“ such as yourself”, the Man in Red tsked at Blue Star, “ It’s truly a cruel thing to do. At least I am honest and have the gull to put them in their place. An act of mercy for them if you will.”

“You call that mercy! Striping away their rights? Taking away their basic human necessities? Allowing children to starve in places they’re supposed to be protected and safe? How is it merciful to lie on the news and let people die on the streets, because of those lies! If the only thing I am guilty of is allowing these people to have hope for a better life and showing them that they are ALL worthy of it, then I will gladly carry the weight of that sin on my shoulders!”

“Very well then, the time has come for you to repay your sins. Now die!” The Man in Red leapt down from atop his balcony and rushed forward towards Blue Star in a flash of crimson light.

The two of them clashed with each other head on and a large flash of white surrounded them. Their fight could be heard throughout the nation. The outcome uncertain.

Will you be a sheep blinded by the crimson red light or a blue shooting star that strives to go above and beyond for the betterment of themselves and the ones around them?

The Mighty Oak and Sweet Lilac (2/21/25)

 Prompt: Difference

In a world full of different colors and shapes, one would think that others would be more accepting. Do the Lilac flowers in the spring care that the Oak tree’s shadow covers their beauty? Maybe a little, but they still stand there proud and tall, even in front of the Mighty Oak. Does the Mighty Oak think lowly of the Moss growing on its bark? Possibly, but still they live and grow together, even when they are both different.

While Oak, Moss, and Lilac are vastly different in appearance, they are all plants just the same. They stand under the sun, dig their roots deep into the earth’s soil, and drink from the water that falls from the sky. They are living beings, just like you and me. Just like us, they breathe life into this world. Just like us, any plant will try to grow everywhere and in any condition. This may harden the plant, maybe they’ll grow thorns for protection, or they may be sickly sweet to lure in others to them.

We humans too are vastly different in color and size. We too live on all corners of the globe. We breathe life into this earth, but also take away from it at the same time. Something that is distantly different from most plants. Of course we humans can‘t stand in the sun to gather our nutrients, so instead we take from others to fuel ourselves. Both literally and physically. Viciousness is in our nature. However we are not the only ones who take.

The Mighty Oak takes the sun away from the lilacs. The lilacs release its sweetness to take the bees away from the oak. Our world is take or be taken. However, though methods of survival may be cruel, we should still grow and help one another. Without the Lilac’s pollen, the bees could not help the Mighty Oak Grow. Without the Oak’s shade the Lilac would burn under the harsh sun.

While we must do what we have to do to survive, just remember we are all doing the same. Even if we all look different on the outside. Because in the end, we all need each other to survive.
