~Prompt: Truth
“It wasn’t me!”, screamed the Gingerbread Man, “ I would never do such a thing!”
“A likely story, little man!”, argued a male villager, “Just like you’re the fastest gingerbread there is!”
“I’m telling you the truth! I would never ever do such a thing! I would never think or dream of doing that!,” exclaimed the Gingerbread Man.
“Right, like you didn't dress up like a wolf to scare the boy protecting the sheep! You terrorized him for weeks! And when there was a real wolf around the flock no one did anything, because everyone thought he was lying again!”
“That was only one time! I never did that again! But you have to admit it was a little funny seeing the little twerp run around like a headless chicken every time he saw me”, snickered the Gingerbread Man.
“Then what about the time you dressed up as a little girl and broke into the Bear’s house! They stopped serving porridge to people from their little shop!”
“Well to be fair the door was unlocked…”
“And what about the time you dressed up as a wolf again, what is your obsession with dressing up as a wolf by the way, and scare a child and her grandma!”
“Okay, to be fair, that little girl had it coming! She ate my cousin Phil! I mean Phil wasn’t the greatest guy and I didn’t know him very well, but still! Family loyalty and all that stuff, ya’ know?”
“Alright, fine. I can agree that the little girl and her grandma are a pain, but still! A wrong answered by a wrong doesn’t make it right! You’ve got to be better than them. Either learn to co-exist or move on! No need to harm others!”
“Okay, fine, whatever! I get your point, I’ll do better. However I would never do what you’re accusing me of doing! Like you have to be crazy! Why would I ever impersonate a dragon! That’s insane!”
“I don’t know! Maybe, because you’re insane since you love to scare and terrorize people!”
“That may be so! But I would never eve-”
The Gingerbread Man was cut off short by the sound of loud thumping wings. Fear and dread filled the air between the two bickering parties. So thick that it could be cut with a dull butter knife.
“You know lowly mortals, I could hear your pathetic squabbling from over a mile away”, the large red dragon boomed at them. They turned to look at the villager and said,” You know mortal, even liars can tell the truth sometimes.”
“Oh gumdrops-”, the Gingerbread squeaked out before the dragon burned them all to a crisp.
