In A Flash IS OUT (Well...Has Been For A Bit....)

Hey everyone! It's been awhile, once again. Time has been moving swiftly for me and everyone else. And with my time as of late, it's been filled to the brim with busy busy adult things. So busy in fact....that I didn't notice that there was another publication from the Storytelling Collection, that had one of my stories in it. It is something I participated in last year in February and the book finally released....this past October...

Yeah....I've been pretty behind I must admit. But I'm here now to tell you that it is released and if possible maybe go pick it up to help me and all the other authors apart of this story! I thank you guys for your time and hope you all have a wonderful rest of your day! <3

Long Time No See My Friends!

Hello everyone. It's been a long time hasn't it? My apologies for that. Many things has happened over the past two months. So many things. Thankfully it has calmed down again and I'm slowing going back into a rhythm and routine. It's comforting, especially after not having one for roughly a month or so. I suppose I should stop dancing around what has happened and tell you all.

In the beginning of July, I was able to finally purchase a place to live(-ish) with my boyfriend. We've been trying for a little over a year, but it has finally happened. Our relationship was a long distance one (A little over 500 miles and 8 and half hours of driving). For the two to three years we've been together, we've only been able to be together in person a little over a hand full of times. They were difficult times for both of us, slightly halting the growth of our relationship and causing strain. However, on August 16th of this year, my boyfriend and I made the pilgrimage south of where I lived to come live with him in his home state. And yes my boyfriend, the wonderful soul he is, flew up to me so we could both drive down together with my whole life in the back of a little U-Haul trailer. It was a difficult journey, mainly due to the constant rain and driving with a trailer for the first time.

This is not to say that there were not other problems with moving as well, especially at that long of a distance. Plenty of times of communication being misinterpreted or down right no communication at all with some people. Which caused havoc and mayhem with my move. However I do not wish to speak about this, for this is the past now and I am ready to move on. And I have in a way, both physically and mentally. It's freeing and extremely scary moving so far away. I'm still working on myself and my mental self, since moving had taken such a big toll on me mentally. It's one of the reasons of why I haven't posted anything here in such a long time.

I've been in my new home for a little over a month now and I'm starting to feel a little better. Not by much, but learning how to live here has been helping a lot. I can go to some places without GPS already and that makes me feel a little better about myself, even if it's a little silly. Learning where everything is at and how far all of it all is, was very difficult and hard to grasp. Where I used to live, which was an urban/small industrial city area, everything was close together within a 5-30 minute drive. However here, it is much more different and much farther away. Some drives are easily over 30 minutes to over an hour in length. And that's just getting to the location. You still have to drive that way back home as well.

I now live in a very rural and mountainous area. Vastly different from the flat lands up north. Even in such a rural area, there is still a bustling amount of people and cars. Even more so than I'm used to, which is very surprising to me. What else is very different from here and up north, are the amount of people who are genuinely kind. Do not get me wrong, there are plenty of mean people here too, however I am shocked by how people are so polite and welcoming. It's a stark contrast to the people up north and how they treat people there. Even with people who are not from here, they seem to imbue the classical "Southern Kindness" into their own mannerisms. Possibly to not be seen as an outcast or mean. Or because the "Southern Charm" has wormed their way into there hearts and made them kinder people.

After this long egregious explanation of why I've been away, what does it mean for here? Well, I want to slowly post on here again. With different types of writing and with different types of literature being shown. For example: I want to start posting book reviews/book journaling on here. I already write them down the books I've read this past year in a notebook and have been doing so all year long. It's been fun and  feels a little refreshing when I comes to my writing. I'm not trying to impress others and I'm only writing about how the book made me feel and how it was written. I am by no means a professional critic or someone who should be revered as such, however I would like to put my opinion of the books I've been reading and want to put out there what I have read and possibly show them to other people to enjoy or even try themselves. Even if I didn't like them, they could be someone else's new favorite book. I will acknowledge if the writing seems poor, but even so, people should be given acknowledgement for publishing a book and should be given good criticism to grow further if they wish to grow as a writer. This includes myself of course.

Sadly as you can possible see, I did not participate in this years "Short Story September" by the Story Telling Collective. I wanted to. However due to the move, the homesickness, and the moving depression that has occurred over this past month or so, it was not possible for me. The thought of writing for awhile filled me with such mental exhaustion, that I couldn't do much for it. It saddens me that I couldn't start writing until now, but I was able to read more and get back into that hobby which has been very nice and relaxing. For now I will focus on reading and providing my thoughts and opinions on them. Especially since I have a very long to reading list...whoops. I won't stop my writing, I will try to do some before the end of this year, but I don't want to push myself. So for now, this is all I can provide on here. I apologize if that is not what you wanted from me, I can understand that deeply, however that is all I can offer for now. If you stick around, I thank you greatly. If not, I understand and thank you greatly for you support regardless.

I also will being working on posting more on Bluesky, especially with my blog, to over come my social internet anxiety. It's silly, truly, but It's something that I've mentioned here before and wanted to work on. Especially if I want to work on my social presents and want to share and grow this blog more. I will no longer be posting anything blog related on my Instagram, since it never seemed to help either sadly. Bluesky also seems to have a friendlier community and is more open for growth since they are smaller social platform than the other bigger, popular, and most known social media platforms like Instagram.

Over all I wanted to post an update on here and to show that I haven't forgotten this place. As well that I'm alive. If you have read this far, I thank you greatly. As well as appreciate everyone's support so far. So until then my friends, have a lovely rest of your day and until next time. Ta ta!

The End To A Silent Month

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well and even having a good Memorial Day weekend if you are here in the states like me. As the title of this post says, I will finally be returning back to posting here on my writing blog. After the April Poetry Month Challenge I desperately needed a long break from writing. Writing is fun for me and when I have ideas of what I want to write it comes to me better than when I force myself to write, as typical of most people. However I've been forcing myself to write during the April and February Challenges and those took a heavy toll on me. I felt like I had to write , but not for myself, for everyone else. Be it everyone here that reads my work or friends and loved ones who want to support me. I've constantly was also trying to maintain a schedule for posts here as well, which also took its fair share of the toll.

After a little over of a month of trying my best to relax, I think I'm at a point where I can begin to write again, but slowly. Possibly once or twice a month. However if I do write more, then more will be posted of course. I want to enjoy writing again. Enjoy the feeling of creating worlds or lines of words that create a feeling within someone. Even if that only someone is myself. I also want to slowly become more comfortable with the idea of posting my work more into the eyes of other people through different means of social media. I personally have a hard time doing so and have a great amount of anxiety when doing it. I understand it is silly to be so anxious to post things online. Especially when people are following you for those posts. But I can't help feeling like I am burdening others when I do it. It is something personal that I need to over come if I want to take a more serious stance with my writing.

There are still many other things that still hinder me when it comes to writing, but hopefully in due time I can work on those things slowly and become a much better writer for myself and maybe of others too. However this can only happen with determination and with the course of time. As they say "Rome wasn't built in a day". One day though, I hope to writing something as rememberable or close to rememberable as I can to Rome in someone's mind. One day perhaps, one day.

Thank you to all who have read this far and still are here for my work. It truly means the world to me. I will try to do better, but I make no guarantees. For I am a human, just as you are dear reader. Farewell and until next time my friends. Stay safe! Ta ta! <3

Working On Twitch Channel!

Hello everyone! I hope all is well with you. Today will be another blog post, because I have been working hard on trying to revamp and update everything for my Twitch streams. I am getting quite close to being done, which feels really relieving for me. Sadly though, all of my  creativity has been put into finishing up everything. I genuinely hope I can complete everything by this coming weekend.

Next week I will have stuff for you all for everyday if February (except for the 29th since this year is leap year!), because I have signed up for the Story Telling Collective's "Flash Fiction" challenge this year. It will be about doing a short, a very very short, story per day. I'm pretty excited to begin this challenge too since I have been wanting to write, but don't know where to start. Hopefully this can help me get back into that mind set and on more independent things outside of this challenge.

That is all for now everyone. I thank you for stopping by and checking up on my blog, it truly means a lot for me. Until next time friends. Stay safe! Ta ta! <3

Dear 2023

It’s a new year, 2024 to be exact. A time to let go of the old and embrace the new. To cast aside the past year and charge forth with new found vigor into the coming year. I write this now, even though it is well past the starting point for 2024, for myself to push forward into this year. A year that I wasn’t looking forward to starting, however time keeps moving on whether we like it or not. Now it is time for me to do the same.

This letter is for myself, even though it will be shared publicly, I want it to be a stepping stone for me this year. Maybe I’ll look back on this letter by the end of the year and hope my outlook has changed. Who knows? Only time will tell on that matter. I want to write this letter as well, so it may be easier to come back to writing weekly for I have had a long hiatus. The good thing though is that I have a lot of ideas and experiences that I want to write. I just need to find the will to write them now. A hard thing to do for me lately. Without further ado, let us embark on this journey together shall we?

Dear 2023,

You had started off with such high hopes. Higher than I had dared to think, let alone believe in before. I believed so deeply and ran forth into the fray into unknown territory. Scared I was, but hope and belief had pushed it aside. With heart in hand to guide me and determination pumping through my veins. This was to be my year of change. This was going to be my last stand for the place I had once called home. This…made me blind to those around me…

Consumed by the need for change I had ignored those that I said I loved and cared for about the most. Saying to myself I would do it after all that changed. Doing it after I had gotten what was promised to me that year. I pushed and pushed myself away from others and harder and harder onto myself for this change. In the end nothing that I had tried so hard to work for happened.

In the end…I was left broken and hopeless. I still am to this day.

Where there achievements from 2023? Of course. I had pushed myself to get a license. Something that had needed to be done for a long time. Soon after, and reluctantly, had I gotten myself a car. A car that I do love and enjoy very much, but I didn’t want to saddle myself with this type of responsibility just yet. However the universe had other plans. What I had hoped to become responsible with was a home. A place I could call my own with the person I love the most. I did not care what it had looked like, for it was home for me as long it was with him. He felt the same notation, but sadly not the drive. And this is where things began to stall and derail the goals for this year.

He had promised me a house would be mine this year. And I believed him wholeheartedly. Soon after it had changed from a house to an apartment, because the house could not be finished by that year as planned. I was okay with that. Soon the apartment wasn’t something feasible, so it turned into an RV. Something close by and cheap. I didn’t care at this point. I wanted something. As long as the separation between us could be gone and I could be away from the place I call home now. It may sound as though I am trying to escape and run away from my current place of residency. In a way I am. But not due to harmful activities. I need it for myself. For years I had become stagnant and had lost my northern star to guide me to where I belong. But I had found it again and did not want to let it go anymore. But nothing happened as planned or promised.

Disbelief and saddening clarity had coursed through my brain by the end of the year. I pushed myself onto the brink of exhaustion. Emotions frayed. Desperation screaming out of my voice. It couldn’t happen like this. This wasn’t what was planned for this year. I had worked so hard to make it happen and be ready for this change. As ready as I could be. But it wasn’t enough. For this decision was to have two people joined together. Not one. And it was only I that was ready.

No. No. No. Three times it was said this year. Well more than three, but these ones were the most important to remember. No to the house. Crack. No to the apartment. Crack, crack. No to the Rv. Shatter. My hope gone. My belief in ruins. My trust destroyed. All this time and energy I had put into this goal was wasted. Lies were told and promises broken. Yelling ensued and arguments ran rampant. Tears shed and pain… So much unnecessary pain. The type of pain that changed people to their core.

I know it was not all someone else's fault for all the things that happened this past year. I take just as big a blame for all that has accrued as other people do. But I can still be just as depressed and sad about it. And I will for a long time.

Needlessly to say, 2023 was not a good year for me. In fact I would say it is the second worst year for me in my life. A year that will haunt me for as long as I remain on this plane of existence. I purposely remained rather vague about things and did not wish to go into much detail. I know the story and so do others who were involved. I do not want to put anymore out there for others to read.

I know there are others who had it worse last year as well and my story is nothing bad in comparison. I understand and acknowledge it. Regardless it was still a bad year for me and I hope to one day put it behind me.

Thank you to those who have read through this unthought out and emotion filled letter. It truly does mean a lot to me. I hope everyone’s 2024 is a good or at the very best decent new year. I hope you’ll stick around and read all the new things I write this year. Until next time! Ta ta!

- Sincerely ASH

A Delayed Hiatus Update!

Hello everyone! My apologies for the late update. I know I haven't posted in the past couple weeks, this is due to the holidays and preparation of said holidays. Sadly I am still not done. Later this week I will be traveling for personal business and that will take quite awhile. After that it will be Christmas and the beginning of the New Year! Suffice to say, I do not have a lot of sit down time to write poems or short stores for my blog.
Due to this I will be taking quite a long hiatus that will last towards possibly the beginning or middle of January. I'm sorry to do this, but I am to busy and sadly already very drained from all the holiday things and other personal business combined. I hope to come back with a little more vigor by the next year. I want to try to be better at being more consistent in my writing. As well as continue to grow more as a writer too!
Until then my friends! I hope you all have a lovely holiday season and a joyful beginning of the New Year! Much rest and respite to all during this season! Ta ta for now! <3

I will be uploading the story into three large chunks due to its size (it is 15 pages long all put together and over 9k words). I hope you enjoy the first segment of "Up In Flames"! Until then my friends! Tata! <3

Collective Verses Publication!

Hello everyone! I have not forgotten about you, I promise. I am here rather late though and I apologize for that. It was done for a good reason this time around, because I can finally announce that I am a published poet! At least a little bit. If you have perused through my blog and found poems that are from the "Story Telling Collective Challenge." Three of these were chosen myself to have published by this wonderful company to publish along other fellow writers from around the world!  I won't tell you which ones were published though, so you'll have to find out yourself by buying a physical and/or pdf copy of it! Whish is available now on DriveThru Fiction! I hope you enjoy the poems I have submitted as well as the other hard working authors as well! Also make sure to check out the Storying Telling Collectives other newly published book "In A Flash." Another challenge that other writers have participated in and submitted their work to be published by them! The link will be down below for you to follow if you would like your own copy of any of these books! Until next time my friends! <3

A Massive Project In Bound!

Hello everyone, I just wanted to let you know that I am going to work on another Story Collective Challenge this year! It's their Short Story September Challenge! I really want to put in a lot of effort into this short story, because I have think I have a really neat idea for a good one. So that means that there will be less poems and other things shared on here in the mean time, since I will be using a lot if not all of my creativity for this short story! I will do a blub for the short story when it gets closer to being finished and post it on here! I hope everyone will be alright with the wait and enjoy this short story that I am trying to create. For now that's all my friends and until next time! Ta ta! <3

No Poem This Week (Sorry!)

Hello everyone! As the title says, there will be no poem this week. Personal stuff and playing a new game kinda took up a lot of my time. Didn't mean to let that happen, oh well though. I think taking a break every once in a while and indulging in things that bring you joy and relaxing is good! I also welcome everyone to the game that I have been playing as well since it's a fun and relaxing one!

The game is called Palia and its like if Stardew Valley and a building sim came together and said "Let's add all of our good parts together and make it an MMO!" Currently it's still in beta testing, but it's free to try and everyone get some free goodies if they play before October 31st! Who doesn't like free things. Speaking of, if you like to use my referral code as well to get a free decorative fruit basket for you house please use this link! [ https://accounts.palia.com/sign-up?referral=0c670440-3462-40b4-93d0-0ba4b8a95c1a ] Well that's all for now my friends! Until next time! <3

Back From Hiatus!

Hello everyone! I am back after a personal hiatus! I had a good week off and a very rough week of going back to work. Seems pretty normal for a lot of people now a days. I don't have any new writings to share in the moment due to wanting to relax during my week off and the exhaustion from work. I do have something in the back of my mind that I'd like to work on during this up coming week. I will try my very best to get it done and posted sometime this up coming weekend.

I would talk more about my personal time off, but this isn't what I'd like this blog to be about currently. Hopefully that will be okay with everyone. Maybe in the future when I'm more comfortable writing on a blog I might do that every now and again! For now this was just a little update for everyone to know that I am back and will try to get back into the full or at least half swing of things! Until next time my friends! Ta ta! <3

Hello everyone! I hope you all have had a good week! I'm just here to do a little notice for next week. I won't be home next week due to personal business. I also don't have anything written down for this week or next week to post. Work and a lot of other things got the better of me this time around. Hopefully I'll have stuff again within about a week or two! New fresh content is always nice right? I hope while I'm gone you guys have a wonderful up coming week and a lovely weekend! Until next time! Ta ta! <3

Prologue to My Book (Title is Still to Be Determined)!

The water dripping from the cavern ceiling seemed to hold some type of rhythm to it.
Drip. Drip, Drip
Drip. Drip.
Drip. Drip. Drip.
Drip.

Over and over again did these little droplets of water fall. Hmm, she’s running a little late today it seems I thought. Usually by now I would have seen her. She would have snuffed out all of the light around and left me in complete darkness. Only then to reveal a small light from her lantern. As if she was beckoning me towards a real salvation, but that’s not true at all. The light would only lead you towards where you entered and would close the entrance. I’ve learned that the hard way.
However due to my persistence it seems she has had to change her course of action as of late. Showing horrors beyond mortal conception. Attempting to charm me with material goods or other unsavory, or well, savory things. But although all of these things have not only scarred and tricked my mind, I can’t give up now. I’ve come so far, so why not wait a bit longer?
Drip. Drip. Drip
Drip. Drip.
Drip.

“Peculiar isn’t it” said a soft whispering voice.
“What is?” I asked. I looked around my surroundings to see if I could locate the source of the voice, but nothing around seemed to show any signs of life.
“The water droplets of course”, the voice said playfully, “It’s as if they’re playing music for you.”
“I highly doubt it. I believe they’d more likely play music for you than someone like me.”
“For as long as I have been here, they have never once behaved this way around me or anyone else. I suppose your persistent presence is starting to have an effect around here.”
“Maybe the cave is starting to warm up to me…or maybe you my dear Guardian.”
“Preposterous!”, the voice exclaimed, “Why would I do that towards a lowly mortal such as yourself!”
“That is a good question my dear, why would you?”
There was silence. Not even the water droplets seemed to want to continue their song.
“You know it’s rude not to show yourself when speaking to someone”, I said calmly, “It’s not like I’m going to harm you.”
A small sigh echoed through the cavern. Soon after the shuffling of footsteps came after.
First the light of the lantern appeared around the corner. A warm and welcoming light, even if its purpose was only intended to lead people away. Next came the silver gleam of the silver blade of the scythe. Not once has she harmed me with this weapon, however there have been a few close calls though. Then the wispy black ethereal robe appeared next. Although looking at it from this close it seemed to sparkle like the stars in the midnight sky.
She stood a little distance away from me. Cautious as ever it seems I thought. However I did not move from where I was seated. I slowly patted the ground next to me.
“Why don’t you have a seat?”, I asked gently, “It doesn’t have to be near me of course.”
She stood there and by the subtle movements seemed to be debating what to do. She reluctantly moved closer to me and sat down about five feet away from where I was seated.
“Would you care for something to eat or drink? It’s not much, but will hopefully be satisfying enough for you” I asked.
“No thank you, however I appreciate the offer mortal. You need it more than me anyway.”
“Alright. I appreciate your concern though.” I grabbed some bread and cheese from my bag of rations and started eating a little bit.
“You know, for as long as we’ve known each other, we should at least be on a first name basis my dear.”
“You have not earned the ability to even hear my name, and why should I care to recall a name that means nothing to me?” she said harshly.
“My my, such unkind things to say! Especially coming from someone so enchanting as you my dear.”
“I hate you calling me these things mortal! Why do I bother entertaining you with these talks?”
She started to get up from her spot to leave. I jumped from mine and walked towards her a little. My hands in the air to show that I meant now harm.
“My sincerest apologies Guardian. I meant no harm or foul play. Please don’t leave, I promise to behave myself for now on” I pleaded.
She stopped in her tracks. Took a deep breath and turned back around to face me. I couldn’t see her face. She had hidden it by the darkness of her cloak. I wish she didn’t hide it.
I’ve only been able to see it once. Her true face. Not the illusions of other people that she often paraded around to dissuade me from my goal.
It was the most beautiful face I have ever seen. Not even artisans could replicate her natural beauty. However since that day my goal has changed a little. Not only am I here for my original purpose, but to also see her face one more time. Maybe see it with a smile. If Lady Luck is on my side of course.
“What do you want mortal, you’re starting to get to the end of my patience” she said.
“Why don’t we sit down and get to know each other a little?” I gestured back to where she was to have a seat, while I went back to where I was and sat back down.
She sat where she was, which was further away from me before, but that’s only fair I suppose.
“Would you like to go first or would you like me to do that?” I asked politely while picking up the food I was previously eating.
“Why would I want to tell you anything or hear anything about you that I already know?”
“Well, because I am interested in learning more about you and it’s only fair to share about one another. Even if you know all about me. As well as to pass the time with you, since I have nowhere else to be. How about it Guardian? Will you indulge me in this please?”
She sat quietly for a moment. The cavern is still silent. As though every living being in there was waiting on her to answer.
    She sighed.
“Fine. I will entertain you on this if you plan on still being here” she said enthusiastically.
My heart beat with pure joy at this. I tried to appear calm on the outside however in hopes not to show my enthusiasm to her. Whether I achieved that or not I’ll probably never know, for I can not see her reaction to me.
“Thank you Guardian”, I mumbled, “Would you like to go first or shall I?”
“Why don’t you go first? Since you seem to be rather chatty at the moment, plus it was your idea after all. Start wherever you think is prudent mortal.”
“Alright. Let’s start at the beginning of my endeavor of finding you and the reason why I’m looking for the Knowledge of Elotl.”

I've finally written up my prologue for everyone to read! It's not an updated one, it's the one I made from the very start. I was hoping to post the updated one and not this one, but life lately has said otherwise. So here it is! I think over all it'll be good more me to post this one and then an updated one later on to show my progress with my writing and how I want to do this story! I'll eventually post stuff here about characters that I mention in parts of my story, but not to much! I still want there to be some surprises and discoveries for everyone to make! Thank you everyone who read this long post. I hope you enjoyed it! Have a wonderful rest of your day my friends! Until next time! Ta ta! <3

A Small Update!

Hello everyone! It's been a little while now since I've posted last. Sadly I'm not here today to post my prologue for my book. Life got the better of me this week and I've been pretty busy and tired. I just recently got my licenses and I am now trying to get a better understanding of "adulting". It's been a rather difficult and tiresome process for me. And I still have such long way to go. sigh. I would like to try to post a prologue for my book this coming week sometime, but we shall see. At best I'll post the unrevised version for now and then post an updated one later on. There is not much else I can say about this past week, so I will make this post short and sweet for everyone! It's getting close the the 4th of July, so for Americans like myself, that'll give us a day or two off from work. So not much more to go on that my friends! I thank you all you reading and I hope you have a wonderful upcoming week! Until next time! Ta ta! <3

The First Post Of Many! (Hopefully)

Hello everyone! I'm ASH and I'll be the person that will be writing these posts! I don't have much experience doing a blog, so I hope everyone will bare with me on this journey. This blog will be used for my writing and personal posts as well. I'll be posting poems, short stories, and hopefully some little bits about the book that I want to write. Along with a myriad of other things too! Such as things from my personal life, writing about games I play, or books I'm reading/read!

I would like to make this blog semi-serious, because I want to progress my writing skills. However I'm not always a semi-serious personal myself and find it boring if I have to do it all the time. So I won't! It is my blog after all and I'm going to make sure I have fun doing it too! As a lot of people know, if you're not having fun doing something, then you shouldn't be doing it. You only live once and you sure make the best of it! Unless it is working. We sadly have to work at jobs that aren't very fun at times to make that money for a decent life.

I plan on writing a post of a poem or something short once a week. I'll try to do a short story once every one or two months. Then I'll do personal posts here or there whenever I feel that I have something worth while to share. I'll try my very best to be active, but I can't always guarantee it, because life happens. With that though I will say this. This weekend, June 17-18 2023, I'll be posting all of my older work that I have saved. So nothing new will be posted this week. I believe next week I'll try to post my prologue of my story, I have to type it out and revise it a bit, and that will be what I post for that week. No one but another person and I have seen it, so I hope you guys will enjoy! I won't give many updates on the book due to it still being a work in progress, but I can offer you this and a possible short summary of what I want to achieve in the story!

I will say one other thing as well before I go. When I post my work I do not plan to explain about it after making it, at least not in depth. I'll possibly give a brief explanation on something or share the prompt that I used to inspire my writing. I don't want to give a synopsis of my work for you all though. I want people to read it and take what they see out of it for themselves.

I believe that wraps everything up for me on this post! I thank you for reading this far and taking the time to do so! It truly means a lot to me! I hope people will come back to see my work, but if they don't that's okay too. Regardless I hope everyone has a wonderful day/night and I thank you all so very much for your time! I hope to see you all again soon! Ta ta my friends!
