Finally In Her Embrace (2023)

The water,
She calls me.
To explore the unknown.
To live among her own.

I always explore the river near my house.
Flowing with it and seeing what it has to bring each day.
Sometimes there are treasure,
And sometimes just feathers.

There is one part though I have not explored.
I’ve been warned about.
To never go down there.
For you will run out of air.

Today though,
Her calling is demanding me to go there.
I can not resist her no longer.
For her voice has gotten stronger.

I swim to where the depth is no longer visible.
“Further down” she sings.
“Become one with me.”
“So I can set you free.”

I start to run out of air.
The world around me is dark and murky.
My body starts moving me back up to survive.
And yet down here I’ve never felt more alive.

I black out and drift with the current.
The air is gone from my lungs.
But I am still here.
And then She appears.

“You have finally found me my dear.”
“My depths have waited for you to come here.”
“Welcome home.”
“You are no longer alone.”
