A promise was given to me,
That now lies on my left hand.
A physical reminder of the future to come,
A future for us.
A simplistic reminder,
One that others may have thought was nothing significant.
What they don’t know,
Is that simplicity is what I prefer.
Made of gray wood,
As well as inlaid with burgundy flowers.
Colors that compliment me,
Colors that let me shine alongside you.
In the resin of burgundy,
Lies flacks of shiny silver.
It reminds me that,
Our future will shine very bright together.
Inside of this promise,
Is something you call me dearly.
It may have started off as fun and games,
But now it represents more than that.
For I will always be,
“Your Darling Clementine”.
A promise that could be,
Joined with another of its kind in due time.
This one made of precious metal,
And adorned with dazzling jewels.
But now is not the time,
For that kind of promise yet.
Now we enjoy the one we have now,
And look ahead to our bright future together.
For you and I,
“My Darling Hummingbird”.
