In a hole in the ground there lived a family of rabbits. A mother rabbit who was fluffy white with orange spots and droopy orange ears to adorn her fluffiness. The father rabbit was covered in black velvet fur and had striking blue eyes. They had four children named: Sunny, Lily, Dew, and Drop. Sunny was the eldest daughter and was just as fluffy as her mother. She also was orange all over, save for a few white spots near her rump. Lily was the spitting image of her father. Their only difference was their height, her father still had that over her head.
Lastly the twins, Dew and Drop. They were spotted like their mother, but instead of orange spots they were black. Their eyes were also two different colors. Their left was their father’s striking blue and their right one was amber like their mother’s. They looked exactly the same except for one noticeable detail. Dew had a black spot surrounding his left eye and Drop had his black patch surrounding his right eye. However no one would notice the difference if someone else did not point it out to them. This made the twins get in trouble often, no matter who the true culprit was.
Their burrow was nestled close to a little farm run by a human. They worked alongside the human growing crops for all of them to eat and live on. The human did not pay money for their hard work, but in protection from wild outside forces that could harm them. There were many threats to the bunnies, so while the human was away, the bunnies stayed to tend and water the crops. It was an easy life and enjoyable for all.
One day the human brought home something new after his adventures out and about in the nearby town. What now sat in his small living room was a small box that had little bunny ears of its own made of thin wire. Everyone sat around it and watched as the human pressed several combinations of buttons. Eventually he made the small screen brighten into a static glow. They all marveled as smaller humans danced and paraded in black and white before them. A truly marveling sight to behold.
They all sat there watching these mysterious figures do all sorts of different things. Some were juggling bowling pins, others told jokes, or were singing the latest new songs. They were all distracted and the day flew past all of them until their stomachs began to rumble. The mother rabbit went towards the magical box and flipped the buttons to turn it off. Dehypnotizing everyone from their trance.
The mother rabbit started to move everyone into the kitchen to start supper. Everyone’s faces were sad to leave the box, but the call to food was a much more powerful force to be reckoned with. They all helped make a simple vegetable stew and filled their stomachs to the brim. After dinner the mother rabbit told everyone that no one is to lounge about while there is work to be done. After dinner can everyone come to watch the magical box.
Everyone agreed, except for one. Drop kept quiet to his thoughts. Letting his face show no emotions as best as he could. All his life he had to do the same as everyone else. Work alongside his twin brother. He had enough of the orders. He will do whatever he pleases and no one will stop him. Remembered a part from watching the magical box that night where a human had a knife in hand and would harm the other humans on the screen.
If it worked in the magical box, why couldn’t it work in real life? And he did just that. One by one in their sleep he plunged a knife deep into their hearts. He left his twin last. Savoring this one as much as possible. Then returned to the magical box and stayed there until the end of his days.
